Allentown PA, made it home
11/17/20
We made it to Allentown, what a
great joy to see my parents and visit their place. It has been 15 years since I was in the area. Since my last post we pretty much spent 2 days driving from
Kentucky to Allentown PA, arriving yesterday afternoon.
When we arrived, we got the tour
of their house and I was excited to show my Dad how we set up Bessy. After show and tell we spent a few hours talking
over beer and had a Mom home cooked meal, yummy!
Today was a business day getting Bessy taken care of. Early on we had an issue with the front head lights and ordered a replacement. Ends up the replacement the wrong part and needs to be sent back. My Dad and I did take apart the field repair and did a much nicer tape job – should last for years. After that we had the oil and air filter changed. Bessy is ready for the next 5K miles.
The highlight of the day was visiting the Clothes Closet. The Clothes Closet is place for needy people to come and get clothing in down town Allentown. My Mom has been working & running the Clothes Closet for years. I asked her how long and she said she did not know, maybe 9 years. It is her pride and joy...

Waiting for the car to be done we drove around Allentown and my Dad gave us the tour of where he grew up.

Later in the day I enjoyed a bike
ride on the Ironton Rail Trail with my Dad.
It was in the 30’s and windy but my Dad was up for it. He ended up doing the 10-mile loop in his
best time, not sure I had anything to do with this.
My Dad and I ready for ride. Don't say it...
Yes I look like my Dad.
Dinner will be out tonight at a local restaurant. Cannot wait.
