And we are off...

Well we made it...

The movers left with one full truck around 7:30.   We said a very quick goodbye and were on our way.  It’s a bit after mid-night and we are in Bakersfield CA at some dive hotel.   The drive was 3 ½ hours but did not seem that bad.  I think we were excited for the first few hours, so time went by fast.  It feels good to be on the road and looking forward to our road trip.   

 

A full tank of gas and Bessy has 114,705 miles on her.  Wonder what this will be in a few months. 

We will miss all our CA friends.  Don’t know when we will pass through San Jose.  I hope all of you use this blog, text and phone to stay in touch.  If your ever in FL or GA let us know.  You always have a place to stay.

 11/14/20 11/14/20 Time fly’s by…   it has been 3 days since I last posted something.   Let’s recap for you.   We had our 1st camp fire.   Sandy and I spent the last 6 nights camping.   We were lucky and showered on day 2 but have been without since.   That means 5 days without a shower.   We spent 3 nights at the 101 Marina, what stood out is each night was colder than the one before, but the days would warm up to be nice.    We spent more time inside the car/tent than normal.   After 101 Marina we headed east about 5 hours to Fort Pillow State Park in Tennessee.     On the way I we crossed the Mississippi River, what a treat.   There were several very large barges just under the bridge, the river was huge.    The Tennessee state line must be in the middle of the Mississippi. Moving Day is Tomorrow

 10/30/2020 Tomorrow is moving day… yeh.    It was a long wait but just one more night and we are on the road.   The moving truck is supposed to show up at 8:00AM and have us out of here before the end of the day.   Let’s hope, not too much has gone as plan so far on the move.    Sandy and I are killing time with margaritas and hanging out with our stuff.   Bessy is packed with everything we will need for the next month (we hope) and maybe more.    After they load the truck tomorrow, we are off.   First stop will be a night in Bakersfield CA tonight and then on to Independence CA in the morning.    People only go to Independence CA for one thing…    to ride Onion Valley Rd.    Cannot wait and more tomorrow when we are on the road. Day 53: Finish in New Smyrna Beach

Thanks to everyone for the great arrival celebration...  way over the top surprise, could not have been any better.  Just a few quick photos to show the finish of our ride from San Diego to New Smyrna Beach FL. We are both happy to be done!!! My friends set up a finish line for me.  Felt great to arrive to such a warm welcome.  The winner of The Tour de France gets a colored jersey and a bear.   We found the bear during ride.  I declared Sandy the WINNER My Mom (Pat) and Dad (Bruce) My son Bradley road the final leg with me.   What a joy to have him come along.
