Catch Up Time...
11/5/20
Death Valley… (11/2 ~ 11/4)
We left Lone Pine on Monday (11/2) for Death Valley to start our camping efforts What a spectacular drive in to DV. We stopped along the way many times and finally had to say enough and get on with driving.
We arrive around 2:30, setup camp and went for a short walk behind the camp site.
Two hours of climbing took me from -100 feet below sea level to 3000 feet along 17.5 miles of great riding. Best part is I turned around and coasted to camp. I arrived back to camp with breakfast ready. We ate quickly and headed off to tour around. We started with a drive on 20 Mule Road. I am not sure if this is on the DV tourist guide but what a great road. Later in the day we went on a hike for ~3 miles through the same terrain.
Daunte's View...
Daunte’s View overlooks DV and you can see for 100 miles. We
took a ton of pictures; this is certainly one of the most spectacular
places. Sandy and I walked the 1-mile ridge along the top until it
started to get unmarked and looked like we would go to the valley floor.
It ends up being a tough walk back to the car.
Zabriskie Point...
Drive to Sedona... 11/4
This was supposed to be a haul-ass day and get to Sedona with not much to do along the way. Ends up that Hoover Dam was along the way, so we saw Hoover Dam. I was too cheap, and we did not want to spent to much time parking the car. The best picture is from the back side of the dam. For all my Alta friends the Chairman's dam is much bigger. We did drive across the dam after getting a cavity search by the guards. Sandy says it was much different than when she visited 30 years ago.
Sedona... 11/5
We arrived in Sedona last night (11/4) around 5PM just before dark. We are camping in an open space area so no services and you had to find a place to park - no marked camp sites. We drove about 5 miles into the area and found a fantastic site. This was are first night of self sufficient camping.
Today we woke up to the sound of nothing, made coffee and had bacon & eggs for breakfast. After that we headed of for a day hike.
After the hike went to a local pizza place to use the internet for this post and have a beer. To close out today I leave you with this...

Nice ending. You both look so happy. See you both soon.
