Good Bye Sedona, Hello Amarillo TX
11/7/20
We said goodbye to Sedona this morning after a very windy night's sleep. 20+ mph winds kicked up throughout the night with some rain. Cool and interesting to experience the weather - it would be dead calm, then light rain, then 20 mph winds. This would last for 5 min and stop. Sometime later is would go again. This went for most of the night.
Our home for 3 nights |
Before we left Sedona, Sandy and I had a chance for one last hike. We picked up a trail on the West side of town that was spectacular.
Today was another haul-ass day, we drove about 10.5 hours and made it to Amarillo TX. Most of the trip was on Route 40 which was the original Route 66. You saw signs all along the way trying to sell the drive. I did buy a Route 66 sticker that will go on my cooler a year from now when it comes out of storage. This was Sandy and my first drive in the area, have to say from Flag Staff to Albuquerque there was not much to see.
Tonight. we will spend the night in a hotel in Amarillo and try to get an early start. Our next destination for a few nights camping is in the Ozark Mtn. We meet a couple on a hike in Sedona who lived in Arkansas for a while. They suggested Mountain View... so off we go. It was a long day of driving today, so likely will spend one more night in a hotel before we arrive.
Wow, 2 good bodies. Puts me to shame . Have fun, be careful. See you in 10. Pop
