Day 28: Johnson City TX to Bastrop TX

Today’s ride started off very different than most days.  The camp site for last night was about 4 miles off the ACA route and uphill to the route.   To save a bit of time but not cheat, we put the bike in the car and drove to the entrance to Pedernales Falls where I joined up with the ACA route.

In the process of getting ready, we forgot to take our morning number picture, so we improvised and got the real sign later in the day.

Improvised 28...

The real thing, from the hotel

After I left for my ride, Sandy did some sight seeing around the camp site.  I wish I was with her to enjoy the walk and views.

The ride today was not my favorite.  I thought I would like riding through Austin, but it was not fun.  The route was difficult to navigate and with city traffic it was hard to really take in the sites.  The plan to meet up with Sandy for a nice lunch was a bust (we did eat at Wendy’s, yeh!!!).   I did get so photos to give you feel for the ride.

Skyline from just outside the city...
Amazing!!!

Downtown Bike Paths...

Bridge entering the city...

City Art...  I find this interesting.

Late in the ride, the road was closed for construction.  After some discussion with Jerry on alternative routes around, I asked if I could put my bike in the back of his truck and get me to the other side.  He said OK and a half mile later I was back on course.   Thanks Greatly Jerry!!!!

Thanks Jerry....
Thats my bike in the back of the truck

Just a few mile out of town...
Back to farms.

Early in the ride, the wind was friendly, and I enjoyed the big rolling hills.  Through the city and into camp the wind shifted, and route direction changed creating a head wind.   There was light rain toward the end of the ride.  Sandy and I bailed out on camping are got a hotel.
