Day 35: New Roads LA Rest Day

The plan for today was to catch up on person business, do a bit of shopping for supplies, eat good food and generally do nothing.   I think we did them all...  we hit up Walmart for propane cans (green ones) and went back to Hot Tails for lunch and dinner.  We ate there three out of three meals while in town.  The food was over the top good again and I want to give the restaurant a giant thumbs up.   Thanks to our two favorite people at the restaurant; Regina the best bartender and Oscar the chef who provides all the great food.  Both of you are fantastic hosts and fun to talk with.  If your ever in FL near New Smyrna Beach let us know.  We will show you around.

Thanks to both of you for being great hosts!!!

The forecast for today was RAIN all day.  We woke up to dry pavement but by 8:00AM it was pouring buckets of rain.   Good timing for the rest day.  I must say that Bessy benefitted from the rain.  She looks good with all the dust off of her.

Morning rain from our hotel
Happy to be inside

The rough plan to finish out the ride is below.  We have ~1000 miles to go with 18 days to April 10th.  Assuming one rest day we need to average just under 60 miles.  Tommorow is going to be very short due to the rain and lack of hotels between 25 miles and 85 miles.  We are planning for hotel on Day 38 & 39 as well to let the rain clear.  If it clears early we have more options to camp and adjust.  The good thing is if we need to take another rest day or something slows us down we can step up the miles to catch up.
