Day 38: Amite City LA to Poplarville MS
We wasted a night in a hotel last night thinking it was going to rain. I finished yesterday in a drizzle but by 6PM last night it was clear and no rain. We left from the Comfort Inn in Amite City with the usual daily enthusiasm.
Ready for another day... Wasted a night in a hotel, weather was nice this morning. |
The highlight of today was leaving Louisiana and crossing the Mississippi border (No jokes about yesterday, I know I was a day early). If this tells you anything the ride was generally boring today, nothing to see.
This is a make up picture for when we entered LA There was no sign on the West side so we got it going out!!!! |
We will only be in this state for a couple of days. |
The best lunch in town... I am in my chair in the background. |
Well Sandy pointed out that her
car drive was only 25 miles so I adjusted my route and came in at 75 miles. We will spend the night at the RV park in
Poplarville; tonight, is movie night and they are showing a double feature so
hopefully it does not get too loud. The
camp RV park is most permanent residence…
Front row seats to the double feature tonight. |
For the most part todays ride was boring. I spent most of the day looking at wildflowers on the road and blooming Azalea’s. When my best topic is flowers you know the ride had nothing exciting, not even a water tower to show you. There was a larger than usual number of dogs that wanted a chase today. It’s hard to take a picture when I am haling ass to get away.
The ride today was no rolling hills, hence the 2K feet of
climbing and into a slight head wind all day.
Not to hard a ride, just right for today.

For food today, I had my usual Cliff Bar before lunch, Oreo’s
and some Blok’s. I ate more than usual
since the hotel had nothing for breakfast.
At lunch I had a Hamburger, Fries and a Banana along with a Diet
Coke. Before lunch I had about half a
water bottle. At lunch we filled up and
I finished both before the end of the ride.
It is amazing to think that in 3 days we will be in FL, about
650 miles from home. Tomorrow is another
70ish mile day and on Sunday we will get to Dauphin Island AL. The next day we will get up and catch the ferry
into FL. We confirmed last night that we
will go to Sandy’s brothers house arriving March 30th and take our
final rest day. It is fun and sad at the
same time figuring out the logistics to bring this journey to a close. 15 more days with 14 days of riding, see you
all in NSB soon.
Almost home! Quite a ride you’re having. Weather’s gotta be getting a lot warmer for you, too.
ReplyDeleteThe ladies at the lunch stop were looking at you! I'm glad you mentioned the dogs because I hadn't thought of that. Brings up an entertaining mental picture. We're enjoying the sights along the way.
