Day 37: Jackson LA to Amita City LA via Mississippi

What a mistake I made today… the route picture below tells the story, I missed a turn and ended up lost in Mississippi.  Sandy had a hard time figuring out where I was, so she got lost as well.  To top it off it rained most of the ride.  Maybe the only thing that went totally right all day was breakfast. Mema and Bonnie cooked up a fantastic serving and the extra pancake filled me up perfectly.  I am going to give one more, big shout out to the Old Centenary Inn B&B in Jackson LA.

Thanks Mema and Bonnie

The best part of our day!
Breakfast was fantastic.

Elegance in every corner.
Just a beautiful Inn to call home for a night.

We left the Inn this morning in the rain.

If we left yesterday there would be two #36's.

After getting off the main road in Jackson the traffic was very light and the ride smooth.  At about 30 miles or so I missed a turn.  Thinking I was on the right road I never checked the map and end up in Mississippi about 12 miles off course.  After trying to figure out the best route back I ended up adding about 20~25 extra miles today.  Good thing my legs were fresh from a few days rest and I enjoyed the ride.

Views all day
Wet Roads and Water, Water, Water...

Another good day of water tour watching.

For food today, the plan was for me to go in alone and eat Cliff Bars and Oreo’s.  After I got off track, we adjusted, and Sandy met me for lunch of the usual ham sandwich, banana and Gatorade.  Prior meeting up I had a Cliff Bar and Oreo’s.  I drank most of two water bottles, mostly after lunch.

Tomorrow is going to be a 50 mile ride to Bogalusa LA.  The distance will need to be set by what camp sites we can find.  It also looks like the rainy weather is going to be in the area for another few days.

  1. Glad Sandy is finding some very cool B&B’s. We had a huge hail storm here. First time we experienced this.
